5/1/22 Progress Report

Sorry about this progress report being late! But I promise you, it'll be worth the wait!

It's been done. The beast that is Lilco's route has been vanquished! It turns out that all I had to do was two simple things:

  1. Work from my laptop so I don't get tempted to play video games on my main PC. My laptop can't play shit on it.
  2. If something doesn't work in the script, JUST CUT IT. Don't mull over it for weeks on it. JUST. CUT. IT.

Lilco's route has clocked in at 16,160 words. It's the longest route to date! Here's my favorite snippet from the route. Note that the route has just been sent out to proofreaders/editors, so if you notice any mistakes, grammar or spelling, that's why.

All for a damn nickel.

I really wanted to focus on the closeness between Clarke and Lilco since players didn't really get to see that in the demo. They have some cute banter in Lilco's route, trust me. <3

While I've been at work with Lilco's route, Gami has been implementing Echo's Day 4 into the game. Here's a preview of that!

Outside of programming that, Gami has made a huge QoL change to the game. He's added Auto Highlight, a helpful Ren'Py tool made by Wattson that automatically highlights whoever is talking. This tool was released in November 2021, a year after A Marble's Muse demo came out. So, prior to this, the game was using old code that required Gami to change a sprite's coloration whenever they talked. As someone who is a non-programmer, it sounded like a gigantic pain and we're both glad we made this change to the game!

With Lilco's route done and have been sent to proofreaders/editors, I'm going to begin work on Tony's route next week. I plan on having his route done by the end of next month! :)
